Inspiring Future Leaders Podcast

The Inspiring Future Leaders podcast, hosted by author, coach and consultant Kellie Lucas, is a regular show that explores the components of current and future business models, cultures, people, and leadership styles to inspire and motivate leaders to be more human, connected, socially minded and ultimately more successful. Encouraging better business for global good!

In this episode, I had the joy and pleasure of speaking with Kellie Lucas about the advice I would give to future customer success leaders. We talked about the power of appreciation and as a leader, you should be encouraging people to work and to develop their strengths to allow everyone to be the most authentically powerful person they can be, rather than forcing them to work on their weaknesses. In this episode, I also shared the benefits of working in teams. It is amazing when you have a great team surrounding you. If you have a team and each individual can focus on their strengths then you can ensure that as a team you are unstoppable as your weakness can actually be your teammate’s strength.

I also very much believe in the concept of learning as you grow. This concept isn’t new but it is something that should be regularly adopted at startups and scale ups. When you are working in a startup and as a customer success leader you need to embrace the fact that you will not have all the answers. This means that you will have to learn on the job. Kellie and I explore how Learn as you Grow applied to everyone and in all stages of life. We progress as humans and we should always allow ourselves the space to learn in life. Each stage of life will teach us something and the same idea should be applied to your career.

As leaders, it should be natural to provide the space to your team to continue to learn and to play to their strengths. We really need to encourage our teams and celebrate all the little wins with them. In my opinion no matter how big or small the win is, celebrating it is a must. Celebrating a win costs you nothing but it will mean everything to your team. Above all of this, I had the pleasure of discussing how important it is to be unapologetically yourself.
